Officially Licensed Collection Announced at CES2025
TL;DR
MyArcade, the purveyor of Retro focused plug & play and portable gaming devices, marked the opening of CES2025 with the announcement of the Gamestation Retro Collection.
Gamestation Retro Collection
MyArcade has followed up on their previous teaser release to provide the full lineup and MSRPs.
Featuring 5 devices, the comprehensive collection includes everything from a portable handheld and TV console to a tabletop arcade cabinet. Additionally, MyArcade will make available additional gamepad and arcade stick.
The collection is being released with officially licensed games and branding from both Bandai Namco and CAPCOM.
MSRPs range from $299.99 for the Gamestation Retro Mega tabletop cabinet to $149.99 for the Gamestation Retro Pro console, with the Gamestation Retro Go sitting in between at $199.99. The Gamestation Retro Gamepad’s MSRP is $39.99 while the Gametation Retro Arcade Stick retails for $69.99.
The CES announcement currently lacks details on hardware features of the devices or release dates. Also note that while the Gamestation Retro Gamepad states compatibility with the “collection”, implying interoperability with all 3 form factors, the Arcade stick gives no indication of device compatibility.
A Lot of Potential
There are still a number of missing details needed to come to a full conclusion on the new MyArcade Gamestation Retro Collection. Most notably, what is the software lineup? On the hardware side, does the Gamestation Retro Pro include Bluetooth and allow for ‘bring your own controller’? Do they include SD card slots? Are the Gamepad and Arcade stick compatible with PC or other non-MyArcade devices?
That being said, I am personally very excited at what’s been shown so far. I think it’s great that MyArcade is taking a wholistic approach here and launching different form factors to cater to varying tastes. And admittedly, I am a bit of a sucker when it comes to Plug-and-Play consoles, so the Gamestation Retro Pro has me particularly intrigued.
